The New Zealand Lottery is controlled by the Government through an autonomous Crown entity, Lotto New Zealand. Profits are distributed by the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board to charities and community organizations. The New Zealand Lottery is also a major source of funding for Sport and Recreation New Zealand, Creative New Zealand and the New Zealand Film Commission. In addition, the New Zealand Lottery supports a wide variety of other community-based organisations through its charitable arm, the Foundation for Rural Communities.
